Grower & Winemaker's Notes

This fruit comes from a 30 year-old vineyard off our “Home Ranch”. The vines are cane pruned which ensures a low yield of approximately 2.5 tons/acre. Unlike “traditional” Gewürztraminers, this wine was fermented to a bone-dry level of –1.8 brix by allowing the tank temperature to warm as fermentation begins to wind down. The new wine was then racked off gross lees and introduced to malolactic bacteria and a subliminal amount of French oak, lending the crisp, clean citrus profiles to dance around a pleasant creamy vanilla finish. We bottled this wine from tank as soon as cold stabilization and filtration had occurred. This wine pairs very well with any crab or seafood cake, lobster or crab bisque, and also taste great with a classic Caesar salad.

Tasting Notes

We believe Gewürztraminer is “coming into its own” with the North American palate and thus wanted to offer a Gewürzt that's not the norm, in fact it's quite unique to be this dry.  With fresh notes of citrus and lemon, this dry Gewurzt resembles a Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Gris.
